Wired-In Wednesday
If you're looking at the title incredibly confused, don't be! I'm here to explain exactly what Wired-In Wednesday will entail. Each Wednesday I'm going to be selecting a game that I've been playing to review and discuss with you guys! I'll also be giving some tips and tricks on different modes and playstyles as well. So, without further ado, I present to you our first game in this blog series: Call of Duty Modern Warfare! Suit up and wire in, let's get down to it!
Firstly, I want to point out that this is a first-person shooter (FPS) playstyle and has a variety of modes from campaign and co-op to warzone and multiplayer. Each playlist has different types of games and modes for you to try out. For today, we're going to specifically discuss multiplayer and my personal favorite game mode, cyber attack.
Cyber attack is an attack and defend game mode that can be played on a variety of maps. It's max players is 6v6 and can play up to nine rounds. Once a team wins five rounds, they win! The object of the game is to grab the bomb, plant it on the enemy's database center, and make sure it doesn't get defused. If it blows up, your team wins the round. Another way to win is to defuse the bomb the enemy team has planted and eliminate all enemies on the opposing team.
Now, this game is much more complicated than playing hot potato with a bomb. Once you're killed, you cannot respawn, so be incredibly careful when leaving the spawn point. Though, teammates can revive you if you die. Be wary of this as the opposite team can go from one enemy left to six! This game mode is fast-paced and intense, the best way to win is to have a few different things:
- A full squad
- Microphones
- Map memory
- Pregame strategy
- Practice
This might seem like way too many things to remember, but I'll break it down for you, so don't worry! Firstly, a full squad of friends or teammates you've played with before is incredibly beneficial. The more you play with someone, the better you understand their playstyle and vice versa. Once you develop chemistry between players, it becomes easier to play together.
Microphones are super important when competitively playing! Hearing and communicating with your teammates will help you get that W. Calling out death locations and the tags of other players can help your teammates avoid enemies or kill them. The headset I use will be linked here, it’s the Razer Kraken Pro. This headset has a clear microphone and noise-canceling ear cups to fully immerse you in the game.
Map memory isn’t discussed as much as it should be. The more you know the map you’re gaming on, the better your chances are of survival. Ever heard of home-court advantage? It’s the same thing in gaming! Learn the ins and outs of every map on the game. It’ll give you the best hiding spots, vantage points, and sniping locations. In the long run, it will also help your callouts be clearer and more concise.
Pregame strategies are plans set into action before gaming. For example, before each round, there will be a 5-10 second timer. Use this small amount of time to call out a strategy. For example, I typically run the P-90, a quick-firing submachine gun. Since I use close quarter combat to my advantage, I normally call myself out for bomb rushing. This essentially means that I will sprint as fast as possible to the bomb location to plant it.
Practice might seem like an overused hint, but it’s so true. Dedicate an hour or two of your day to practice. This can be a target practice in a private match or even playing against friends in your own lobby. At the end of the day, practice is going to be the one thing that truly helps your gameplay overall.
Using these simple strategies has upped my gameplay, kill/death ratio, and leaderboard status. If looking you’re looking to find more strategies, I’ll link IGN’s blog here. This is a separate blog that updates on every game coming out and currently available. They offer tips, tricks, and even cheats to help you advance in different games.
So, go out and try out these strategies’ gamer! If you’re interested in a specific game, I invite you to comment it down below. Maybe I’ll pick it for the next week. Until then, I’ll see you guys next Wednesday for another Wired-In Wednesday!
This is a great first post to this series! You explain the story and gameplay very clearly, and I also think you adding what possible tools one would need to enhance their playing experience is wonderful. FPS games are typically a struggle for me, but you give a really excellent breakdown of the content! A game I could suggest would possibly be Destiny? I haven't played the 2nd installment to the series, but I loved the first!
ReplyDeleteGreat choice for the first game in your wired-in Wednesday. You did a great job explaining the objective and how to play the game. I was playing this game nonstop for a while, but school has had me studying more rather than gaming! However I'd recommend having a post about League of Legends, that'd be fun for us PC gamers.
ReplyDeleteAmazing job explaining this game and giving tips. Recently I have gotten into playing video games more and more. I have a long ways to go for sure, but I appreciate your advice on strategies and practicing. I'd love to hear more recommendations, as I don't really know where to begin right now.
